Harp teacher
Valeria is a harp teacher at the Mountview Drama Academy as well as at the London Russian Music Academy. She is London Philharmonic Orchestra’s Ambassador for the harp at the Lambeth, Greenwich and Southwark councils and has been coaching orchestral rehearsals and working on the orchestral repertoire with the students. Valeria is based in North West London and maintains a private teaching studio for harp lessons in London and is able to teach at either her home studio or travel to her students' homes. Valeria teaches all levels and ages on both pedal and lever harps, and also Celtic harps.
How much do harp lessons cost?
The cost of a 1 hour harp lesson is £70 at Valeria’s studio in North West London and upon request at the student’s house. Zoom or Skype lessons are also an option and cost £70 per lesson. Teaching style for harp lessons
Valeria tailors each harp lesson to the individual needs of her students and is teaching any style to all ages as well as chamber music and orchestral repertoire for more advanced students. She believes that to be free and connected with your instrument it’s important to develop a solid technique and nurture skills such as aural, sight-reading, music theory, music history and improvisation. She teaches all of her students how to improvise and compose as well as teaching them the fundamentals of music theory, ear training or Solfege, and the repertoire they wish to master.
She has got a vast library of music and teaching materials and has been preparing her students for exams such as ABRSM, Trinity Exams, Orchestral Auditions, Mock Auditions, entry exams to the Music Colleges and Conservatoires. Valeria easily adapts to the teaching style that her students need, based on their interests and goals, she can provider a stricter environment or keep lessons laid-back.
Harp lessons for children
Valeria teaches harp lessons for children of all ages - from ages 5 to 18. She has in-depth experience in teaching harp music that aligns with the grade system and can prepare students for exams, do mock exams, and also is experienced at starting off a child’s journey with the harp, teaching all the key elements needed for the child to become successful on the harp. She documents lessons with a harp diary and sets goals and targets to encourage growth in skills and learning.
Harp lessons for adults
Harp is one of the instruments that you can start mastering at any age. Learning an instrument is a journey and with the harp you can make beautiful sounds from the first lesson, you’d be surprised! Valeria teaches harp lessons for adults and has 7 adult students at the moment and each one of them plays the harp because it has relaxing and calming properties. Many of her adult students have started with her as complete beginners and are progressing very well.
